River Cottage HQ
and Axminster Canteen
We are only 15 miles (20 minutes by car or taxi) from River Cottage’s first canteen and a similar distance from River Cottage HQ. The Axminster Canteen is renowned for its local seasonal menu and is open most days. River Cottage HQ, popularised by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s TV series, hold workshops, seminars and events and it is where they hold many feasting events. It is fascinating listening to the River Cottage team talk about their approach to food and answer questions. We enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining talk about foraging for mushrooms and the sampling that followed, of course...
